Biography
I have an M.Sc. in Engineering Hydrology and am a Chartered Engineer (MICE) and a Chartered Water and Evironmental Manager (MCIWEM). I have worked with FAO for 18 years on agricultural water management and irrigation, first in the sub-regional office for Southern Africa, now in the office for East Africa. Prior to that I worked with NGOs (Oxfam and Save the Children) on both development and humanitarian projects related to rural water supply and sanitation. This was mostly in Africa but also in Azerbaijan and the Palestinian Territories. In Britain I worked on flood defence project management with the Environment Agency, as a water resources planner with Thames Water Utilities and on hydrometry with the Severn Trent Water Authority.
