Biography
Dr. Dia Sanou is an international development professional and nutrition scientist with proven experience in strategic planning, management and leadership across disciplines spanning from agriculture, food systems and public health. He is currently Nutrition Team Leader in the FAO Sub-regional Office for Eastern Africa and Representation to the Africa Union and UNECA since 2016. He served as FAO Representative a.i. Burundi for 10 months. Prior to joining FAO, Sanou was Regional Nutrition Leader with Cornell University (2013- 2015) and Assistant Professor in Nutrition and Health at the University of Ottawa (2010-2013). He also worked for the National Public Health Laboratory in Burkina Faso as Food Quality Officer (2001-2008). Dr Sanou holds a PhD in Nutrition from Université Laval, a graduate Certificate in Information Technology and Nutrition from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, a MSc. in Food Sciences and a BSc. in Human Nutrition from University of Ouagadougou.
