Biography
Joseph Baricako is an Economic Affairs Officer at the Market Institutions Section of the Regional Integration and Trade Division, Economic Commission for Africa. His main areas of expertise include economics, international economics, economic geography, macroeconomics, development economics, econometrics and quantitative analysis. His recent publications focus on regional integration, trade and growth, the nexus regional integration and growth in central Africa, composite index of regional integration; aid, debt and dependence in Africa, the negative impacts of colonization on trade and growth, economic cost of conflicts, among others. Prior to joining ECA, he worked as a Lecturer for the Universite Catholique de Louvain La Neuve in Belgium and for the Univerisite of Burundi and Universite du Lac Tanganika, both in Burundi. He is associated with the African Economic Research Consortium and the Amnesty International. Mr. Baricako holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Universite Catholique de Louvain La Neuve, Belgium.
