Biography
Marcellin Zounmenou is a French Editor at the Publications, Conference & Knowledge Management Division. Specialist of Social Sciences. Prior to joining ECA, he worked as Head of the French Unit at the Pan-African Parliament, and as a Lecturer for the Monash University and for the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, where he taught French language and literature. Mr. Zounmenou holds a Ph.D. in African Studies from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. His thesis is entitled " The political role of the indigenous knowledge system and the African Development". African Studies specialist with an Extensive teaching and research experience in African Studies and modern foreign languages, spanning over four universities in Western and Southern Africa, and France over the period of twenty years. Sound knowledge and deep interest in Africa, in issues of African Affairs, African Governance, African Democracy, African development initiatives (Lagos Plan of Action, the African Recovery Prospective Plan, NEPAD), African politics, African Nationalism Indigenous Knowledge System (IKS), Pan-Africanism, African culture, African literature and African identity. Broad Knowledge of African History, Development Studies, Gender and International Relations. Versatility, Interdisciplinarity, Innovative initiatives, professionalism and ability to introduce new ideas. Bilingual scholar, with an excellent command of English, French and a working knowledge of Spanish and high managerial, organizational, communicational and analytical skills. Extensive experience in Election Observation Mission (EOM) and Elections Monitoring. During his tenure at the Pan African Parliament, Marcellin Zounmenou organized many elections observer missions in Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Ghana, Angola to mention few. His skills and expertise in African Politics, International relations and African Development are translated through the mission he effected during seminars on Harmonization of legal systems in the Regional Economic communities through out African sub-regions and his publications. His ability to speak many languages is an asset for a contribution to the integration and development processes in Africa. His multiple talents are also an asset.
