Biography
Sheng Zhao is an Associate Statistician in the Economic, Infrastructure & Agriculture Statistics Section of the African Centre for Statistics. He has been responsible for several capacity building projects in the areas of Supply-Use Tables, Environmental-Economic Accounts and GDP Rebasing. In particular, the innovate and interactive e-training approach has immense impact on the continent, covering 40+ countries with 300+ participants. He has been in the task team for in-country technical assistance on Supply-Use Table compilation.
Before joining the UN, Mr. Zhao worked in the private sector for 7 years as a banking professional, with exposures to different Asian markets. He brought to his clients various tailored financing solutions and instruments and additionally, he was responsible for policy advisories on financial market connectivity and international tax coordination under China-Singapore government-to-government project.
Mr. Zhao holds an MPhil in economics and finance from City University of Hong Kong. Mr. Zhao is fluent in Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese) and English, with knowledge in French and Spanish.
