Biography
Mr. Xiaoning Gong is Chief of the Economic, Infrastructure, and Agriculture Statistics Section at the African Centre for Statistics. His areas of expertise include economic statistics, national accounts, economic-environmental accounting and statistics, poverty statistics, and food and agricultural statistics. Recent publications discuss topics such as African economic structural transformations and international trade in services in China. In the early years, he worked as Lecturer for the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP), where he taught macroeconomic accounts and economic statistics, and for the Temple University, Japan, where he taught economics, statistics, econometrics, financial accounting, and investments. Prior to joining ECA, he worked in the FAO, ESCAP, IMF, and the World Bank. Mr. Gong holds a B.A. in Mathematics, a M.A. in Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Economics.
